May 21: Octavia’s Brood @ Think and Drink, Portland
Oregon Humanities will welcome Walidah Imarisha, an educator, writer and spoken word artist, as the guest speaker for their 2015 Think & Drink series.
Think & Drink is a series of events designed to inspire individuals to have deep conversations and explore new ideas. In the past, authors such as Cheryl Strayed and Ursula K. Le Guin have led these evenings, and Walidah Imarisha is excited to add to the Think & Drink legacy.
Most recently, Imarisha is the co-editor of the science fiction anthology, Octavia’s Brood.
Among other topics, the talk will consist of the history of black communities in Oregon and science fiction and social change with Adam Davis, executive director of Oregon Humanities.
This event is open to minors and tickets can be purchased for as low as $10.
