AK Press & Authors @ Humboldt Anarchist Book Fair
December 14, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
FreeCan you believe it’s the 10th one?! The organizers of the Humboldt Anarchist Book Fair are excited to celebrate their big anniversary with those of you who’ve shared in this tradition all these years, and with those of you who are joining in for the first time!
They’re cooking up a Book Fair that you can really sink your teeth into (not just talking about the free food being served up all day!). Our line-up of speakers and workshops are sure to sate your intellectual appetite. Of course there will be an abundance of books to peruse, brought to you by anarchist publishers (like AK Press!). And just in time to wrap up your holiday shopping, if you’re into that kind of thing. There will even be a gift wrapping station, using old Anarchist newspapers! And as always, the Kid’s Corner will have activities for the littles all day. Attendance is free of charge.
This year’s theme is Anti-Authoritarianism, a way to explore the root of our social, and by extension our environmental, ills. The Book Fair will shine a light on the way Authoritarianism is playing out in the world at large, and how it relates to our social movements and to us as individuals. It will also celebrate and keep the flame burning in the long-standing Anarchist tradition of fierce and courageous resistance to Authoritarianism.
The keynote speaker of the Book Fair this year will be Bruce Levine, author of Resisting Illegitimate Authority. Also speaking will be AK authors Kevin Van Meter (author of Guerrillas of Desire) and Kristian Williams (author of Whither Anarchism?, Between the Bullet and the Lie, and Our Enemies in Blue).
