Today is February 15th, the 8th anniversary of 2/15, the largest global peace protest in modern history. February 15, 2003 was a global day of action against militarism and the war in the impending invasion of Iraq. Some 36 million people took part on over 3,000 demonstrations against the US invasion of Iraq over the months leading up to, and following the start of the war, but none of those demonstrations were more memorable than 2/15’s mass-coordinated global actions. It was proof that we can work together, across geographic boundaries, across race, and class, and creed, to demand an end to imperialism and warmongering.
